Who: Andy Mück, vocalist and leader of the band Stormwitch

Stormwitch is a german heavy metal band that doesn’t need to be especially introduced among the heavy metal audience. The band was founded in the early 80’s and it is known for it’s uncompromising sound, melodic style and epic songs. The band has gone through various changes among players, but has always got back on it’s feet to make some immortal heavy metal music.

The legacy of Stormwitch is hard to ignore. It has affected for example the sound of the swedish metal band Hammerfall, by their own words.

Heavy Profile has the honor to interview the band’s leader and Singer Andy Mück.

1. Hi Andy! You published your latest album Bound to the Witch via Massacre Records a while ago. Are you pleased with the outcome and how would you describe the music on the album? How the cooperation with the label worked?

I’m very pleased with the outcome, the songs are good in a new wave of British heavy metal style. Artistically we have every freedom.

2. What are your top 3 Stormwitch albums and why?

War of Wizards: it shows the widest range of Stormwitch music
Witchcraft: it has good production and good ideas
Bound to the Witch: the production was good and the band plays very passionate

Besides – I love every note of Stormwitch music.

3. What topics do you have in your lyrics? Is there any message you want to bring forth via your lyrics?

Mainly Gothic Novels, but also world literature. We are just story tellers.

4. You are a rock singer with a tenor voice. How do you relate to singing? Is it something that just comes naturally or are you determined about how you produce your sound? Who are your biggest influencers among singers?

Singing comes to me naturally. I sing the words as I feel them. No, I have no bigger influences.

5. Have you had any other significant bands or projects beside Stormwitch over the years?

No.

6. In what kind of condition is the heavy metal scene now in Germany?

I don’t know, I’m no politican.

7. Are you going to tour in Scandinavia in the near future? Are there any bands with whom you would like to do a tour together?

If we get an interesting offer we would play there gladly, no matter what band would tour with us.

8. Stormwitch has many die hard fans over the world. What Stormwitch means to you?

Everything.

9. How do you see the future of rock and heavy metal music?

I can only speak for myself: I want to preserve, protect and carry on the spirit of Heavy Metal. Let us hope, that metal never loses it’s power of impact and everything drowns in a morass of bombast, profiteering and empty virtuosity.

10. Free word.

Very much thank You – stay strong.
